Typed letter signed, one page, 8,5 x 11 inch, `Walter Gropiu and Marcel Breuer` stationery, (Cambridge - Massachusetts), 4.01.1940, reply letter to philosopher Lewis Mumford in New York - thanking for New Year wishes, remarking that pamphlets concerning the blinds are on their way to him, explaining the heat control advantage gained by mounting metal blinds on the exterior of the building, and hoping that the information is sufficient for his friend in Honolulu, signed in dark ink "Walter Gropius", attractively mounted for display with a vintage photograph of Gropius in thinker pose (altogether 18 x 14 inch), with two horizontal letter folds and scattered foxing - in fine condition.
