Victor Hugo Autograph

Autograph letter signed, one page - addressed and stamped to the reverse of an conjoined sheet, 4,25 x 6,75 inch, 27.03.1831, in French, to Antony Thouret (political journalist from 1828, French lawyer, writer and politician) - Victor Hugo thanks for an article in the journal "La Révolution de 1830. Journal des intérêts populaires" and asks for an announcement of the publication of the 3rd edition of Notre Dame de Paris in the journal, written and signed in black ink "Vor Hugo", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a photograph, shows Hugo seated in a chair (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with creasing, and scattered mild signs of wear - in nearly fine condition. 

"Je vous dois, Monsieur, bien des remerciements pour votre bienveillant article. Je l'ai lu avec un vif intérêt et une reconnaissance non moins vive. Si le comité polonais ne me réclamait tout entier en ce moment, j'aurais été vous remercier en personne. Vous seriez bien aimable de me venir voir quand vous aurez un moment de loisir. Je vous réitère tous mes remerciements pour l'envoi de votre excellent journal et vous prie de me croire bien cordialement

Seriez vous assez bon pour annoncer en deux lignes dans la Révolution de demain que la troisième édition de Notre Dame de Paris a paru."

"I owe you, Sir, many thanks for your benevolent article. I read it with keen interest and no less keen gratitude. If the Polish committee did not claim me entirely at this moment, I would have gone to thank you in person. You would be very kind to come and see me when you have a moment of leisure. I repeat all my thanks for sending your excellent journal and ask you to believe me cordially
