Description
Autograph letter signed, one page, 5 x 7,5 inch, (Berlin), in German, to an unnamed lady - concerning a postal item, written and signed in black ink "G. Meyerbeer", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a portrait picture of Giacomo Meyerbeer (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with intersecting letter folds, mild creasing, and a few stains - in fine condition.
"Verehrte Freundin!
Ich habe vergessen Ihnen zu sagen, daß die Briefe welche einen Postschein verlangen 1/2 Stunde früher als die gewöhnlichen Briefe zur Post müssen: also muß Jenny`s Brief präcise halb sechs Uhr auf die große Post in der Spandauer Straße abgegeben sein. - Er muß bis zur Gränze franchiert werden."
Translated:
"Dear friend!
I forgot to tell you that the letters that require a postal slip have to go to the post office 1/2 hour earlier than the usual letters: so Jenny's letter has to be delivered to the large post office in Spandauer Strasse precisely at half past five. - It must be stamped to the limit."
