Typed letter signed, one page, 5,25 x 6,25 inch, `38. Avenue Theophile Gautier XVIe.` letterhead, 7.09.1958, in French, to Gerard de Catalogne - concerning a meeting, signed in blue ballpoint ink "Francois Mauriac", attractively mounted (removable) for display with a photograph, shows Mauriac in a chest-up portrait (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with a central horizontal letter fold and very mild signs of wear to the edges - in fine to very fine condition.
Translated:
"Dear Gerard de Catalogne,
I would have been very happy to see you and speak with you about the past. But I will only pass through Paris and will be at Malagar, Gironde, on 23 Septembre, I am very sorry not to see you and not to know your son.
Jean [probably his son Jean Mauriac, born 1924] told me about the friendly welcome you had given him in Haiti.
Believe in my good faithful thought. - Francois Mauriac"
Translated:
