(1890 - 1936) The first successful Indian man of letters in the United States and winner of Newbery Medal 1928
The word Jehadi that appears in The Secret Listeners of the East is derived from the word Jehad - Holy War of Islam. Jehadi is a crusader of Islam.
The book Secret Listeners of the East is based on reports of the British Police officers who were engaged in British India during 1918-21 to track down Mohammadan nationalists of the violent school. Whether any secret society was named Jehadi I do not know.
Sincerely yours - D. G. Mukerji"
