The 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is a spiritual leader and the head of state of Tibet. Born on July 6, 1935, in a small village in northeastern Tibet, he was recognized as the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama at the age of two.
He began his monastic education at the age of six and was enthroned as the Dalai Lama at the age of fifteen, following the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1950. He has been living in exile in India since 1959 after a failed uprising against Chinese rule in Tibet.
Dalai Lama's teachings focus on compassion, non-violence, and mindfulness. He advocates for a peaceful resolution to the Tibetan issue and promotes inter-religious harmony and understanding.
