Description
Autograph letter monogrammed, two pages (both sides) - addressed on the conjoined sheet, 5,5 x 8,25 inch, Schloss Corvey, 24.11.1864, in German, to Mr. Schott - concerning the publication of his songs, written and monogrammed in dark ink "hvf", attractively mounted (removable) for display with a photograph, shows Hoffmann von Fallersleben in a seated portrait (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with intersecting mailing folds and very mild signs of wear - in fine condition.
In parts:
"Geehrter Herr Schott!
Sie werden sich erinnern, dass Ihre Herr [illegible] immer so gütig war, die in seinem Verlage erschienenen Compositionen meiner Lieder zu verehren. Mir fehlen nun die nächsten:
[follows a short list of works by i.a. Lachner, Marschner].
Ob noch andere [illegible] erschienen sind, kann ich nicht ermitteln, da die Liederanfänge in Ihren [illegible] Verzeichnissen von 1862-1862 nicht angegeben sind..."
Translated:
"Dear Mr. Schott!
You will remember that your Mr [illegible] was always kind enough to adore the compositions of my songs that were published by his publishers. I am now missing the next: [follows a short list of works by i.a. Lachner, Marschner].
I cannot determine whether any other [illegible] have appeared, since the beginnings of the songs in your [illegible] directories from 1862-1862 are not given ..."
