Three autograph letters signed, in total 6 pages (each written on both sides), (2x) about 5,25 x 8,25 inch & 4 x 5 inch, [June 1842], in French, to Jean-Baptiste Porcher (1792-1864, theatrical agent and banker to playwrights), and to Madame, each written and signed in black ink "Alex Dumas", each with letter folds, two letters with browning, minor foxing, and with a few small tears to the edges - overall in fine condition. Accompanied by an autograph letter signed from his daughter Marie Dumas, one page, 4 x 5 inch, to "Cher Monsieur", written and signed in black ink "Marie Dumas".

In parts (translated):
1. Dumas sends him a drama to be "secretly read to Frederic" [Lemaitre], and charges him with various financial commissions to pass on, through the banker Lego, 1750 F to Florence. "If you see Goubaux, ask him about Made de Sommerville. I would like to get this second piece out of the way very quickly". He asks him to send him Bastia "some details on the number of performances of Cromwell, and on what has been played about me since I left [...]" 

2. Dumas asks her for "a small jar of pickles", and recommends "a good boy who has talent and a lot [...]"

3. "As I leave everything I do in Paris to my creditors, and as I live here on a tenth of what I earn, I still need you to give me everything I need in return. [...] we have not been able to come to an agreement with these gentlemen about the Ambigu affair. I guarantee the play Porcher could not make the deal with Fournier [...] he would keep half the 500 F. premium. [...] I guarantee the work and sign it alone.
