Description

Typed letter signed, one page, 8 x 10,5 inch, Paris, 7.04.1971, `Embajada de Chile` stationery, in French, to Jean Leimarie (1919-2006, French art historian and director of the Musée national d'Art moderne from 1968 to 1973) - concerning the picture production in Chile and an exhibition of a contemporary Chilean painter, signed in green felt tip "Neruda", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a photograph, shows Pablo Neruda in a chest-up portrait (altogether 16,5 x 11,75 inch), with very mild signs of wear - in nearly very fine condition.

In parts:

Translated:

"[...] As you know, the pictorial production in Chile has been very fruitful in the last years and, therefore, the new Government attaches a very special interest to make known, in particular in France, this important development.

This is how there would be the possibility of realizing an exhibition of a contemporary Chilean painter, at the beginning of the next autumn, if the Museum of Modern Art could offer one of its rooms and, with this in mind, I would be delighted to have a conversation with you to find out if this project is likely to come to fruition.
