Luigi Villoresi was an Italian Grand Prix motor racing driver who was born in January 1909 in Milan, Italy. He was active in motor racing from the 1930s until the 1950s and made a name for himself as one of the most successful drivers of the era. He was a three-time Italian Grand Prix winner and was even runner-up in the Formula One World Championship in 1950.
Luigi Villoresi began his racing career in 1927, competing in motorcycle races. He won the Italian 1,100 cc Championship in 1931, and then switched to four-wheeled vehicles. He entered his first car race in 1932, competing in the Mugello Grand Prix, and from then on he was a regular competitor in various Italian races. He also raced in some races abroad, such as in France, Switzerland and Belgium.
One of the highlights of Luigi Villoresi's career was winning the 1939 Italian Grand Prix, which he did in an Alfa Romeo.
