Description

Autograph letter signed, three pages (both sides) - with lithographed view of Schleswig over the Schlei at head, 8,5 x 10,75 inch, Berlin, 6.02.1855, in German, probably to Prince Friedrich Karl of Prussia - thanking him for a gift to Wrangel`s eight-year-old grandson Gustav and recalling the Schleswig-Holstein uprising of 1848-1851, written and signed in blue ink “Fritz Wrangel", with a small pinhole to upper left corner and mild signs of age wear - in fine condition.

In parts:

Translated:
[...] Even if it perhaps breaches etiquette to express my thanks in such a simple manner, so be it; for when one brings someone an unexpected joy, one must also be prepared to accept their gratitude.
You [...] would surely have shared in the exuberant delight of the little rascal who came bounding in with a shout of "Hurrah!" to share his happiness with me. To sum up my thanks in a single wish: may the good Lord grant you the joy of delighting - and sharing in - the pure, true jubilation of a happy child’s heart.
The sheet of paper with the vignette caught my eye as I began this letter; I chose it as a memento of the time it was purchased - a time the memory of which still makes the blood race faster through my veins today [...]"
