Description
Autograph letter signed, one page - with integral blank leaf, 5 x 6,5 inch, in French, to Joseph-Philippe-François Deleuze (1753-1835, 18th-19th-century French naturalist) - concerning an appointment, written and signed in dark ink "Al. Humboldt", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a picture of Alexander von Humboldt (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with mild letter folds, and scattered very mild signs of wear - in fine to very fine condition.
Al. Humboldt"
Translated:
"The extreme haste with which I wrote a few lines yesterday, upon leaving with the King, caused me, I fear, to forget to express all the pleasure I will have in receiving, with you, Sir, your two friends, Mrs. de Sinner and Mr. Pasquier. I would have come this morning at 8:00 a.m. to present myself at your Golden Stag, had I not been afraid of disturbing you too early. It would be a most grievous deprivation for me if you were to leave Berlin before I could see you there 'under the traveler's tent'. Please accept, Sir, the expression of my most distinguished sentiments. I hope to have the honor of receiving you at 9:00 a.m. or at any other time you prefer. Al. Humboldt"
