(1899 - 1957) Schauspieler
Year of Birth: 1899
Humphrey DeForest Bogart was born on December 25, 1899, in New York City. He was the eldest child of a wealthy family, but his parents divorced when he was young, and he was raised by his mother and her new husband in New York and then in the affluent suburb of Rye, New York.
Bogart attended prestigious private schools and went on to study at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, and later at Yale University. However, he was expelled from both schools for bad behavior and poor academic performance.
After trying his hand at various odd jobs, Bogart turned to acting and made his Broadway debut in 1922. He enjoyed moderate success on stage, but it wasn't until he moved to Hollywood in the 1930s that his career truly took off.
Known for his distinctive voice and tough-guy persona, Bogart quickly became a leading man in films such as "Casablanca" and "The Maltese Falcon." He was nominated for an Academy Award several times and won for his role in "The African Queen" in 1951.
Bogart's personal life was just as colorful as his on-screen roles. He was married four times, most famously to actress Lauren Bacall, with whom he starred in several films. He was also known for his love of sailing and his fondness for Scotch whiskey.
Bogart passed away on January 14, 1957, at the age of 57, but his legacy as one of Hollywood's greatest actors lives on. With his iconic performances and signature style, Humphrey Bogart will always be remembered as a true Hollywood legend.
