Signed `White House` card, 4 x 2,5 inch, signed in dark ink "Theodore Roosevelt", with very mild signs of wear - in nearly very fine condition - pasted on to the front of a copy of Roosevelt`s book: `Good Hunting - In Pursuit of Big Game in the West`, published by Harper & Brothers, New York, 1907, hardcover book with bookplate of Charles Moncheur to front pastedown, 5 x 7,5 inch, 107 pages, with signs of wear - in fine condition. Accompanied by an autograph secretarial letter on behalf of Mrs Roosevelt, 1 /2 pages (on two conjoined sheets), 4,25 x 5,75 inch, silver-lettered `The White House` letterhead, to Baroness Moncheur* - regretting that Mrs. Roosevelt does not have photograph of herself to send but sending the book instead and "hoping that when the boy is older, he may read The President`s book", written and signed in dark ink "Isabella L. Hagues", in fine condition.
* Charles Moncheur (1908-1977) was the son on Baron & Baroness Ludovic Moncheur (1857-1940, Belgian diplomat and Ambassador Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of His Majesty the King of the Belgians).

Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858, in New York City, to a wealthy and influential family. His father was a prominent businessman and philanthropist, while his mother came from a prestigious Dutch family. As a young man, Roosevelt suffered from asthma, but he overcame his physical limitations through a rigorous regimen of exercise and outdoor activities.
Roosevelt attended Harvard University, where he excelled academically and became involved in various extracurricular activities. He graduated in 1880 and went on to attend Columbia Law School, but he soon realized that his true passion lay in politics and public service.
In 1881, at the age of 23, Roosevelt was elected to the New York State Assembly. He quickly gained a reputation as a reformer and a champion of progressive causes. After serving three terms in the State Assembly, he was appointed to the U.S. Civil Service Commission by President Benjamin Harrison.
In 1898, Roosevelt resigned from his position to join the First United States Volunteer Cavalry, also known as the Rough Riders, to fight in the Spanish-American War. His leadership and bravery in battle earned him national fame and respect.
In 1901, after serving as Governor of New York, Roosevelt became Vice President of the United States under William McKinley. When McKinley was assassinated later that year, Roosevelt assumed the presidency at the age of 42, becoming the youngest person to ever hold the office.
During his time in office, Roosevelt implemented a wide range of progressive reforms, including the establishment of national parks and forests, the regulation of big business, and the promotion of workers' rights. He was also a strong advocate for conservation and environmental protection, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.
