Stan Lee was an American comic book writer, editor, publisher, and producer. He was born Stanley Martin Lieber on December 28, 1922, in Manhattan, New York. He had a long and successful career in the comic book industry, creating or co-creating many of the most beloved characters in comic book history.

Lee got his start in comics in 1939 when he took a job at Timely Comics as an office assistant and errand runner. He eventually worked his way up to writing stories and creating characters. His first successful character was the android superhero The Destroyer. He then went on to create the popular superhero team the Fantastic Four, which launched the Marvel Comics brand in 1961. Lee also developed other popular characters such as Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther.

Lee was also responsible for the creation of the Marvel Universe, which became the basis for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He wrote and edited stories for many of the Marvel titles and served as the public face of Marvel Comics through his appearances at conventions and other events. He was also the president and chairman of Marvel from 1972 until 1996, when he was forced to step down due to a dispute with the company's new owners.

Lee's career in comics spanned over 60 years. He wrote and edited thousands of stories, creating some of the most iconic characters in comic book history.
