Autograph letter signed, one page, 7,75 x 9,75 inch, Leipzig, 3.11.1839, in German, to an unidentified recipient - Robert Schumann writes, among other things, about the request from Arnold's bookstore to report Spitz's organ school, written and signed in dark ink "R. Schumann", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a picture of Robert Schumann (altogether 16,5 x 11,75 inch), with browning and signs of wear to the edges (text not affected) partially backed with strips of paper - in fine to good condition.

"[...] Sodann bittet mich die Arnold`sche Buchhandlung, die Spitz`sche Orgelschule anzuzeigen. Sie schickten mir unlängst einen Theil zurück; haben Sie den anderen nicht mit erhalten? Die Orgelschule soll doch vieles Gute erhalten ? Ich bitte Sie um eine Antwort.

After studying law at the University of Leipzig, Schumann decided to pursue a career in music. He studied composition with Friedrich Wieck, the father of his future wife, Clara Wieck. Schumann's compositions were known for their lyrical melodies and innovative harmonic language.
In 1839, Schumann founded the influential music journal "Neue Zeitschrift für Musik" (New Journal for Music), where he championed the music of contemporary composers such as Chopin, Liszt, and Brahms. He also wrote many music reviews and essays for the publication.
Schumann's works include symphonies, chamber music, piano music, and songs. Some of his most famous compositions include the Piano Quintet in E-flat major, the Piano Concerto in A minor, and the Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, also known as the "Rhenish."
Despite his success as a composer, Schumann struggled with mental health issues throughout his life. In 1854, he attempted suicide and was subsequently admitted to a mental asylum, where he passed away on July 29, 1856.
