Mamie van Doren was born in 1931 in Rowena, South Dakota. She was an American actress, singer, and sex symbol who rose to fame in the 1950s and 60s. She is best known for her roles in such films as the cult classic Untamed Youth and the sci-fi classic The Atomic Kid.

Van Doren had an early interest in show business, and at the age of 15 she won a beauty pageant and began performing in local shows. She moved to California in the late 1940s and soon signed a contract with Universal Pictures. She made her film debut in 1952 in the film The All American, and her career began to take off from there.

Van Doren quickly became a sex symbol in the 1950s, appearing in a number of films that capitalized on her image.
