Profession:
(1892-1987) French physicist who made groundbreaking contributions to quantum theory.
Year of Birth: 1892
Louis-Victor de Broglie was born on August 15, 1892, in Dieppe, France. He came from a noble family with a long history of military service and political involvement.
De Broglie studied at the Lycée Janson de Sailly in Paris and later went on to pursue a degree in history at the Sorbonne. However, he soon discovered his passion for physics and switched his focus to the study of this field.
In 1924, de Broglie made a groundbreaking discovery that would change the course of modern physics. He proposed that electrons could exhibit both wave-like and particle-like behavior, which came to be known as wave-particle duality.
For his work on this theory, de Broglie was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1929. This recognition solidified his reputation as a leading figure in the field of quantum mechanics.
Throughout his career, de Broglie continued to make significant contributions to the field of physics, publishing numerous papers on topics such as wave mechanics and the theory of measurement.
Louis-Victor de Broglie passed away on March 19, 1987, leaving behind a legacy of groundbreaking discoveries and a lasting impact on the world of physics.
