King Faisal became the King of Saudi Arabia in 1964 after the assassination of his brother, King Saud. During his reign, he implemented modernization reforms in Saudi Arabia, including improvements in education and healthcare. He also played a key role in establishing OPEC, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, to ensure fair oil prices for oil-producing countries.

King Faisal was known for his diplomatic skills and commitment to peace in the Middle East. He played a major role in negotiating peace agreements between Arab nations and Israel, including the Camp David Accords in 1978. He was also a strong advocate for the rights of Palestinians and supported their struggle for independence.

King Faisal was tragically assassinated on March 25, 1975 by his nephew, Prince Faisal bin Musaid. His death was met with shock and grief around the world, as he was widely respected for his leadership and vision for a modern and prosperous Saudi Arabia.
