Georges Bizet Autograph

Autograph letter signed, one page, 5,25 x 7,5 inch, Saturday 7 a.m. [circa 1861-1862], in French, to the music publisher Antoine de Choudens* - concerning a quartet from Faust and Charles Gounod's opera `The Queen of Sheba`**, written and signed in black ink "Georges Bizet", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a photograph, shows Georges Bizet in a chest-up portrait (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with intersecting letter folds, and scattered mild signs of wear - in fine condition.

Vous savez que vous ne m'avez pas envoyé le quatuor du morceau de Faust. Je ne peux le corriger que sur mon brouillon. Il me faudrait recontinuer les doubles notes, etc.

* Georges Bizet was a close friend of Antoine de Choudens, for whom he also executed works of copy and arrangements, in particular the reduction for piano and voice of Charles Gounod's opera `The Queen of Sheba`.

** `La reine de Saba` (The Queen of Sheba) is a grand opera in four or five acts by Charles Gounod to a libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré inspired by Gérard de Nerval's La Reine de Saba, in Le voyage en Orient. It was premiered at the Salle Le Peletier by the Paris Opera on February 28, 1862.
