Autograph letter signed, one page, 5,75 x 7,75 inch, personal stationery, 5.03.1978, to Mrs. Westerfield - concerning a "theatre building project", written and signed in blue ink "Janet Gaynor", attractively mounted (removable) for display with a photograph, shows Janet Gaynor with her Academy Award (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with mounting remnants to the corners of the reverse - in fine to very fine condition.

(1906-1984) American actress. After signing with Fox Film Corporation (later 20th Century-Fox) in 1926, she rose to fame and became one of the biggest box office draws of the era. In 1929, she became the first recipient of the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performances in 7th Heaven, Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (both 1927) and Street Angel (1928), the only occasion an actress won one Oscar for multiple film roles.
