Eugène Rose de Beauharnais, Duke of Leuchtenberg Autograph

Letter signed, one page (with integral blank leaf), 8 x 9,75 inch, Verome, 9.02.1806, in French, Eugène forwards a letter from the Emperor ("Sa Majesté") to General Jean-Andoche Junot (1771-1813) - concerning orders for the withdrawal of various troop units from the Parma and Piacenza regions, signed by Eugène de Beauharnais in black ink "Eugène Napoléon" (also inscribed by the collector in pencil), with browning, some marginal dampstaining and scattered mild signs of wear - in nearly fine condition. 

In parts:
"Je m`empresse, Monsieur le Général Junot, de vous adresser une lettre que Sa Majesté me fait passer pour vous être remise [...]  J`ai déjà donné les ordres pour le départ de plusieurs des corps des dépots que vous avez dans les Etats de Parme et de Plaisance. [...] à Milan je m`empresserai de vous répondre sur tous les articles de votre lettre. Sur ce je prie Dieu, Monsieur le Général, qu`il vous ait en sa sainte garde.

Translated:
"I hasten, General Junot, to send you a letter that His Majesty has sent me to be delivered to you [...] I have already given orders for the departure of several units from the depots you have in the States of Parma and Piacenza. [...] In Milan, I will hasten to reply to you on all the points in your letter. With that, I pray God, General, that He may keep you in His holy care.
   Written at Verona, this ninth of February, 1806. - Eugène Napoléon"

Shortly before, in January 1806, Eugène had married Princess Augusta of Bavaria (1788-1851). During this time, Napoleon consolidated his power in Italy. Following his victory at Austerlitz and the Peace of Pressburg, the region was the scene of extensive troop movements, and Eugène served as his local representative.
