Eric Clapton is one of the most influential and respected guitarists in the world. He is considered to be one of the greatest blues and rock guitarists of all time. He has achieved international success as a solo artist and as a member of several bands. Eric Clapton was born on March 30, 1945 in Ripley, Surrey, England. He was raised by his grandparents as his parents were unable to care for him.
Clapton started to play the guitar at the age of 16. He found great inspiration in the music of blues legends such as Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and B.B. King. He started to teach himself the basics of guitar playing and by the age of 18 he had already become quite proficient. Clapton's first band was The Roosters, in which he played guitar and sang.
In 1963, Clapton joined the Yardbirds, a popular British band. During his time with the Yardbirds, Clapton started to develop his signature bluesy style of playing. He also co-wrote some of the band's biggest hits, including "For Your Love" and "I'm a Man".
In 1966, Clapton left the Yardbirds and joined the supergroup Cream, which also included Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker. Cream achieved great success and their single "Sunshine of Your Love" became a worldwide hit. With Cream, Clapton was able to explore the limits of his guitar playing and create new sounds.
In 1970, Cream disbanded and Clapton embarked on a successful solo career. He released several hit albums, including "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" and "461 Ocean Boulevard". He also formed a new band, Derek and the Dominos, and released the classic album "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs".
Clapton's career has continued to thrive over the years. He has released several successful albums and continues to tour and record. He has also collaborated with many other great musicians, including B.B. King, Buddy Guy and Jeff Beck.
