Typed letter signed, one page, 8 x 10 inch, `President of the Czechoslovak Republic` letterhead, London, 27.06.1942, in German, (from exile) to Josef Zinner and Josef Lenk from the German Social Democratic Labor Party - concerning the joint fight against Hitler for a better future, signed as President in blue ink "Ihr ergebener - Edvard Benes", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a photograph, shows Edvard Benes in a close-up portrait (altogether 16,5 x 11,75 inch), with intersecting letter folds and mild browning to the edges - in fine to very fine condition.

"[...] Ich bin mir bewusst, dass diese Stellungnahme Ihrer Tagung zu den heutigen neuerlichen und noch wahnwitzigeren Ausschreitungen der Nazis unserem Volke gegenüber Ihre wahren Gefühle und Ansichten ausdrückt. Sie wissen, wie hoch wir diese Gefühle einschätzen und wie sehr wir sie würdigen. Sie standen vom ersten Augenblicke unseres Kampfes konsequent und entschlossen an unserer Seite und führten Ihren Kampf gemeinsam mit uns. Mit Stolz betrachten Sie sich als einen Teil der Tschechoslowakischen antifaschistischen Front und in Erfüllung Ihres Gelöbnisses im Jahre 1938 stellen Sie alle Kräfte unserem Kampfe gegen Hitler und für unsere Heimat zur Verfügung. Ich stimme völlig mit Ihnen darin ein, dass Sie durch diese Zusammenarbeit am besten unsere gemeinsame Pflicht der Heimat gegenüber erfüllen und einer besseren Zukunft für uns alle in der befreiten Republik den Weg bahnen.
