Ludwig II & Maximilian II of Bavaria Autographs

Collection of two royal Bavarian documents signed by Ludwig II and Maximilian II, in German.

1. Ludwig II of Bavaria (1845-1886):
Document signed, one page, 8 x 12,75 inch, `Ludwig II - von Gottes Gnaden Koenig von Bayern [...]` stationery, Munich, 17.IV.1870, Ludwig declares the commercial clerk Lippmann Thalheimer of Langenzenn, born on 1 September 1849, to have attained legal majority, signed by `the Fairy Tale King` Ludwig II of Bavaria in black ink "Ludwig" - countersigned by general secretary, attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a picture, shows Ludwig II of Bavaria in a beautiful full length portrait in uniform (altogether 17 x 13,75 inch), with intersecting letter folds, mild foxing, and scattered mild signs of wear to the edges - in fine condition.

"Wir finden Uns allergnädigst bewegen, den am 1. September 1849 geborenen Handlungscommis Lippmann Thalheimer von Langenzenn für grossjährig zu erklären. Hiernach ist das Weitere zu verfügen. Die am 7. praes[entata] 9. lauf[endes] M[ona]t[es] vorgelegten Akten und Aktenstücke folgen zurück."

Translated:
"We hereby graciously decree that Lippmann Thalheimer of Langenzenn, a sales clerk born on September 1, 1849, be declared of legal age. Further instructions are to be issued accordingly. The files and documents submitted on the 7th of the present month and the 9th of the current month are hereby returned."

2. Maximilian II of Bavaria (1811-1864):
Partly printed military commission signed, one page - with embossed royal paper seal, 8 x 13,25 inch, `Maximilian II - von Gottes Gnaden König von Bayern [...]` stationery, Nymphenburg Palace, 21.VI.1859, in German, the document appoints vice-corporal Georg Heussler as second lieutenant, completed in manuscript and signed by Maximilian II of Bavaria in black ink "Max" - countersigned by general secretary, with intersecting letter folds, mild foxing, and scattered signs of wear to the edges - in nearly fine condition.

Ludwig II, King of Bavaria from 1864 to 1886, is remembered as the patron of Richard Wagner and for the royal castles Neuschwanstein, Linderhof and Herrenchiemsee. Maximilian II, his father, reigned from 1848 to 1864 and promoted scholarship, culture and the arts in Bavaria.
