King Faisal was born on April 2, 1906, in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia. He was the third son of King Abdulaziz, the founder of modern Saudi Arabia, and a member of the powerful House of Saud royal family.
From a young age, King Faisal was groomed for leadership within the Saudi royal family. He received a traditional education in Islamic studies and Arab culture, as well as modern schooling in diplomacy and international relations.
King Faisal ascended to the throne in 1964 after the assassination of his brother, King Saud. During his reign, he implemented a series of modernization reforms in Saudi Arabia, including the development of the country's infrastructure, education system, and healthcare system.
