Heinrich George was a German film actor and director. He is best known for his role as "Dr. Mabuse" in Fritz Lang's 1922 silent film "Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler". He was also a prolific theatre actor and director, appearing in over 100 plays and directing over 50 plays over the course of his career.

Heinrich George was born in Berlin in 1893. He began his career in theater at a young age, appearing in plays by Arthur Schnitzler, Gerhart Hauptmann, and August Strindberg. He was a natural actor, quickly becoming a popular leading man. He also began directing plays in the early 1920s.

In 1922, George was cast in his first film role, as Dr. Mabuse in "Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler". The film was a huge success, and George's performance was acclaimed. He went on to appear in a number of other films, including the 1926 silent classic "Metropolis" and the 1933 drama "The Murderers Are Among Us".

Heinrich George was one of the most prolific German film actors of the 1930s.
