Hawthorn won the Formula One World Drivers' Championship in 1958 with Ferrari, and won three Grands Prix across seven seasons. In endurance racing, Hawthorn won both the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1955 with Jaguar.

Michael Hawthorn was born on April 10, 1929, in Mexborough, England. He grew up with a passion for cars and racing, which he inherited from his father, Leslie Hawthorn, who was also a racing enthusiast.
At the age of 19, Hawthorn began his racing career in 1950, racing in Formula 2 events before moving on to Formula 1 in 1952. His talent behind the wheel quickly became apparent, and he would go on to achieve great success in Grand Prix racing.
In 1958, Hawthorn won the Formula 1 World Championship driving for Scuderia Ferrari, becoming the first British driver to win the title. His victory was made even more impressive by the fact that he achieved it despite not having the best car on the grid.
Throughout his career, Hawthorn was known for his fearless driving style and his competitive spirit. He was respected by his fellow drivers and fans alike for his skill and dedication to the sport.
Tragically, Hawthorn's career was cut short when he was killed in a car crash in January 1959, just months after winning the World Championship. His legacy lives on in the memories of those who knew him and in the records he set during his time as a racing driver.
