Autograph letter signed, one page, 9 x 11,25 inch, Heidelberg, 1.04.1843, in German, to Mr Mohr - concerning a contract for a written work, written and signed in black ink "F C Schlosser", with intersecting letter folds, browning to the left half, and scattered very mild signs of wear - in fine condition. Accompanied by a printed picture (with facsimile signature).
"Lieber Herr Mohr,
Sie erhalten hier den Contract zurück, da ich in dem Augenblick den alten nicht finden kann und doch die Sache abmachen möchte. Es gilt ja dieser Contract ohnehin nur für die neue Auflage und für den künftigen vierten Teil, weil das Andere bis auf die Zahlung für 13. Band 2. Teil ganz abgetan ist. Sie werden mir erlauben, den Passus wegen des Termins usw. des 1. Teils (in auch der 2. Ausgabe soll er 5ter werden, weil ich z. Zt. bis 2. Abhg. zur 4ten machen will) auszustreichen. Sie können versichert sein, ich werde das Möglichste tun, trotz meines Alters, aber ich scheue Verbindlichkeiten in jeder Sache.
Was die Zahlung angeht, so werde ich recht gern für die zweite Ausgabe Ihren Solo-Wechsel mit 5 p. C. auf vierteljährliche Kündigung annehmen, wenn das Geld Ihnen in der Handlung brauchbar ist. Ich werde Ihnen in 10-12 Tagen Dedikation, Titel, Vorrede des 1. Teils und sämtliche Bogen des 2. Teils durchkorrigiert schicken.

"Dear Mr. Mohr,
You will get the contract back here, because I can't find the old one at that moment and yet I want to settle the matter. In any case, this contract is only valid for the new edition and for the future fourth part, because the other part has been completely dismissed apart from the payment for the 13th volume, part 2. You will allow me to cross out the passage because of the date etc. of the 1st part (in the 2nd edition, too, it should be 5th because I want to make the 4th treatise up to the second). You can be assured that I will do my best, despite my age, but I shy away from commitments in any matter.
As far as the payment is concerned, I will be very happy to do your solo bill for the second edition with 5 p. C. Accept quarterly termination if the money is usable in the act. In 10-12 days I will send you the dedication, title, preface of the 1st part and all the slurs of the 2nd part corrected.
