Autograph letter signed, 1 1/3 pages (both sides), 4,5 x 7 inch, St. Petersburg, 21.09.1813, in French, to (Maria Antonovna) Naryschkin, the mistress of Emperor Alexander I -concerning her safe arrival from Riga and her husband, the chief huntsman Dmitri Lavovitch Naryshkin, written and signed in black ink "Elisabeth", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a portrait picture of Elizabeth Alexeievna (altogether 16,5 x 11,75 inch), with wo horizontal letter folds, and very mild signs of wear - in fine to very fine condition.

"... J`ai été charmé d`apprendre par lui que Vous avez bien supporté Votre Voyage jusqu`à Riga et desire fort que Vous continuez de même, tant par l`interêt bien naturel que je Vous porte que parceque je me reprocherois le moindre accident qui pourroit Vous arriver et l`attribuerois à ce que Monsieur Narischkin n`est plus avec Vous. Je sens tout le prix du sacrifice qu`il me fait ..."
Translated:
"... I was charmed to learn from him that You endured Your Journey well to Riga and strongly desire that You continue in the same way, both for the very natural interest that I have for You and because I would blame myself for the slightest accident. which could happen to You and would attribute it to the fact that Mr. Narischkin is no longer with You. I feel all the price of the sacrifice he makes me... "
