Autograph letter signed, personal stationery, one page, 8,25 x 11,5 inch, Munich, 1.02.1939, in German, thank-you letter to Miss Klein - concerning the sending of geological work and his planned emigration (a few months after this letter he managed to legally emigrate to Switzerland), written and signed in ink "Richard Willstätter", with expected letter folds, perforated to the left edge, and mild signs of age wear - in fine condition.
"Sehr geehrtes Fräulein Klein:
Für Ihren freundlichen Brief vom 29. Jan. danke ich Ihnen bestens und ich bitte Sie, Ihrem Herrn Bruder meine herzlichen Wünsche für seine Genesung und meinen verbindlichen Dank für die schöne Sendung seiner bis in die letzte Zeit reichenden wertvollen Arbeiten zu bestellen. Die geologischen Arbeiten waren mir unbekannt; dagegen erinnerte ich mich genau an die Doktorarbeit und die ihr vorangegangenen Studien.
Meiner Tochter (Mrs. Margarete Bruch, Ph. D.,c.o. Mrs. Ferguson, 223 Clifford Court, Madison, Wiss., U.S.A.) wird es gewiss grosse Freude machen, in jeder möglichen Weise für Sie einzutreten.
