"Sprechend ähnlich! doch es fehlt noch eines,
darum bitt` ich dich:
Daß Du mir, mein alter ego,
Nun auch rauchend ähnlich seist!
Paul Heyse

An dem Tage nach dem Festspiel zur Universitäts-Jubelfeier
1. August 1872."
Translated:
"Strikingly similar! Yet one thing is still missing -
That you, my *alter ego*,
should now also resemble me in your smoking!
Paul Heyse
Munich
The day after the festival play for the university’s jubilee celebration
August 1, 1872."
* The aforementioned university jubilee celebration in the summer of 1872 marked the 400th anniversary of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. For this major jubilee, Paul Heyse wrote a festival play in which Ernst Possart most likely took part.
