Orville Wright was born on August 19, 1871 in Dayton, Ohio. He was the fourth child of Susan Catherine Koerner and Milton Wright. Orville grew up in a household that valued education and encouraged curiosity and experimentation.
Orville, along with his older brother Wilbur, became fascinated by the idea of flight from an early age. They began experimenting with gliders and eventually built their own airplane in 1903, known as the Wright Flyer.
In December 1903, Orville made history when he piloted the Wright Flyer for 12 seconds, becoming the first person to successfully fly a powered airplane. This achievement marked the beginning of modern aviation.
Orville and Wilbur continued to improve their designs and make significant contributions to the field of aeronautics. They founded the Wright Company in 1909 to manufacture airplanes for commercial use.
Orville Wright passed away on January 30, 1948 at the age of 76. He is remembered as a pioneering aviator and inventor who forever changed the way we travel through the skies.
