Klaus Kinski was one of the most controversial and talented actors of his time. Born in 1926 in Poland, he was the son of a German soldier and a Polish mother. He spent his early years in Germany and moved to Berlin in 1945. After the war, he began his acting career, appearing in several German films, including "Fury," "The Living Dead" and "The Criminal."
In the 1950s, he moved to Italy and starred in several Italian and Spanish films. He also appeared in several Hollywood films, including "A Fistful of Dollars," "For a Few Dollars More" and "The Great Silence." He became known for his intense and often volatile performances, as well as for his volatile and sometimes violent off-screen behavior. He gained international recognition for his portrayal of the crazed vampire Count Dracula in Werner Herzog's 1979 film, "Nosferatu: The Vampyre."
Kinski was also known for his long and tumultuous relationship with director Werner Herzog. The two men collaborated on five films together, including "Aguirre, the Wrath of God," "Nosferatu: The Vampyre" and "Fitzcarraldo." Despite their sometimes tumultuous relationship, their collaborations were often considered masterpieces. Kinski's performance in "Aguirre, the Wrath of God" earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
Kinski continued to work in film throughout the 1980s and 1990s, appearing in such films as "The Little Drummer Girl," "The Name of the Rose" and "The 9th Gate." He also appeared on television, most notably in the miniseries "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys." He continued to work until his death in 1991.
