Description
Autograph letter signed, one page, 6,25 x 9,5 inch, Cuverville, 12.10.1927, in French, reply letter to "Monsieur Pierre Bourdillon" - inter alia concerning his autobiography `Si le grain ne meurt` (1924), written and signed in dark ink "André Gide", with intersecting letter fold and mild signs of wear - in fine to very fine condition. Accompanied by the original envelope and an (unsigned) picture of André Gide.

Je communique aussitôt votre aimable proposition à mon éditeur; mais crains que déjà il n`ait contracté un engagement au sujet de la traduction de `Si le grain ne meurt...`

Il ne reste malheureusement plus à ma disposition un seul exemplaire de Si le grain ne meurt que j`aurai eu plaisir à vous envoyer."
Translated:
"Sir
I will immediately communicate your kind proposal to my publisher; but I fear that he has already made a commitment regarding the translation of `Si le grain ne meurt ...'

Unfortunately, I no longer have a single copy of `Si le grain ne meurt`, which I would have been pleased to send you."
