Letter signed, one page, 7,25 x 9 inch, Munich, 22.06.1819, in French, reply letter to Baron Devaux - Beauharnais acknowledges receipt of two small paintings, signed by Eugène de Beauharnais in black ink, with two contemporary responses annotations at the base, attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a profile picture of Eugène de Beauharnais (altogether 16,5 x 11,75 inch), with browning and scattered mild signs of wear - in fine condition.

"Je recois, Monsieur le Baron Devaux votre lettre du 12 juin et la communication y jointer de M. Mespelet.
[...] deux petites tableaux representant des vues de Larreule maisons; mais je n`ai jamais su quel en était l`auteur et par qui ils m`étaient envoyér. [...] Si d`ailleure vous voulez me faire connaitre le prix qu`il a intentioner d`y mettrer je verrai s`il me convient de les prendre; bien qu`ils ne me semblent pas d'une perfection désirable -
   Quant au diamant en question, je ne puis me décider à le donner à un prix inférieur à celui que j'ai fixér. Je préfère le garder jusqu`à de nouvelles circonstances."

[...] two small paintings representing views of Larreule houses; but I never knew who the author was or by whom they were sent to me. [...] If, moreover, you would like to let me know the price he intends to charge for them, I will see if it is convenient for me to take them; although they do not seem to me to be of desirable perfection.
