Autograph letter signed, one page, 5,25 x 8 inch, (about 1869), in French, to Théodore Duret (1838-1927, editor of the newspaper `La Tribune`) - concerning an article by Zola for the next day, written and signed in dark ink "Emile Zola", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a photograph, shows Emile Zola in a chest-up portrait (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with a paper clip impression to the upper left corner and very mild signs of age wear - in fine to very fine condition.

   Je suis arrivé hier de la campagne, très fatigué et très dépaysé! Je fais mon article en ce moment, vous l`aurez demain matin par le premier courrier. 
Il arrivera encore à temps pour être composé, car je crois savoir qu`on a jamais donné ma copie aux compositeurs que le vendredi matin. Un jour suffit, à la rigeur. [...]"
