"Schloß Corvey 26. Dec. - 1871.
E[beling]schweigt davon u. – schickt auch nichts.
Ihnen u. den lieben Ihrigen meine herzlichen Grüße! - HvF"

"Corvey Castle 26 Dec. - 1871.
I received a great Christmas joy today: Hirsche's wonderful speech concerning the unveiling and crowning of my bust, but unfortunately only in two copies. You would increase my joy even more ifyou would send me a few more copies as soon as possible. What has become of Ebeling's idea to distribute my three facsim[ilated] poems after Hirsche's speech? E[beling] remains silent about it and – also sends nothing.
My warmest greetings to you and yours! - HvF"
