Paul Newman was born on January 26, 1925, in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He was the son of Arthur S. Newman, a sporting goods store owner, and Theresa Fetsko, a homemaker. Newman grew up with a younger brother, Arthur, and attended Shaker Heights High School.
After high school, Newman served in the Navy during World War II before attending Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. It was at Kenyon College that Newman discovered his passion for acting and participated in numerous theatrical productions.
Following his college years, Newman moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting. He studied at the prestigious Actors Studio and quickly began landing roles on Broadway and in television shows.
Newman's breakout role came in 1956 when he starred in the film "Somebody Up There Likes Me." He went on to appear in a string of successful films, including "The Hustler," "Cool Hand Luke," and "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."
Throughout his career, Newman was known for his striking blue eyes and charismatic screen presence. He received numerous awards for his acting, including an Academy Award for his performance in "The Color of Money."
Aside from his acting career, Newman was also a successful race car driver, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He founded Newman's Own, a food company that donates all its profits to charity. Paul Newman passed away on September 26, 2008, leaving behind a legacy as one of Hollywood's most beloved actors and humanitarians.
