Mario Girotti, known as Terence Hill, was born on March 29, 1939, in Venice, Italy. His parents were German and Italian, and he had two siblings. Hill grew up in a very strict Catholic environment, attending a boarding school in Switzerland. Terence Hill started his career in the late 1950s, appearing in several bit parts in Italian films. He was discovered by director Dino Risi, who cast Hill in his 1959 film, Un maledetto imbroglio (A Damn Mess).
