Translated:
"Dear friend,
One doesn't admire Raphael's paintings, one loves Raphael (odious with the popes - Sodom and Gomorrah, etc.).
Not that I compare myself to this painter - but I meant that a work that doesn't inspire friendship seems absurd to me. Or perhaps you're truly insulting me, believing I would smile at your poor fish and that aquarium devoid of paradise (!?!?) when the aquarium he saw outside even possesses a hell (complete moral comfort).
I love you too, and your visit gave me a strength you must have mistaken for health. Moreover, the first rays of sunshine make me `sing in my torments.`
I have suffered so much (I'm not talking about my detox), suffered so much of every kind, that I think calmly, like a provincial thinks about Paris.
I can even breathe in the Parisian air.
But I'm not angry about being someone other than myself. Nothing can give me more hope. Especially if it's your beautiful, terrible, stormy eye that judges me.
Send the rosary or bring it to me Sunday - we'll be safe very early. I hope to leave Monday - where to?
Yours, Clumsy Jean"
