Jack Dempsey, born as William Harrison Dempsey on June 24, 1895, in Manassa, Colorado, was an American professional boxer in the heavyweight division. He gained prominence in the 1920s as one of the most popular and successful boxers of his time.
Dempsey began his boxing career in 1914, fighting under the name "Kid Blackie," and quickly made a name for himself with his powerful punches and aggressive fighting style. His first major milestone came in 1919 when he won the World Heavyweight Championship title by defeating Jess Willard in a brutal bout that lasted 26 rounds.
Known for his exceptional punching power and lightning-fast hand speed, Dempsey became a crowd favorite. His fights were often packed with spectators who wanted to witness his knockout prowess.
