Autograph letter signed, 1 1/4 pages, 4 x 6 inch, `GM - Rue de Montchanin` (the writer`s residence in Paris from 1884 to 1889) stationery, (Paris), in French, to an unnamed gentleman and friend - concerning a meeting, written and signed in black ink "Maupassant", attractively mounted for display with a photograph, shows Guy de Maupassant in a chest-up portrait (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with a central horizontal mailing fold and a few very mild stains - in fine to very fine condition.

"Mon cher confrere,
En vous invitant pour Mardi j`ai completement oublié un engagement auquel je ne puis me soustraire.
Vous serait-il indifférent de remettre cela à mercredi ? (...) Si mercredi ne vous va pas prenons jeudi ?
N´oubliez pas que vous prenez le train 2 h pour Poissy et que vous me demandez à l`hotel de
