Autograph letter signed, two pages (both sides), 7,25 x 9,5 inch, Kew [Palace], 4.05.1783. to Lord Aylesbury (Thomas Brudenell-Bruce, 1st Earl of Ailesbury) - offering concolation after the death of Ailesbury`s son, George Brudenell-Bruce (at the age of 21 years), written and signed by George III of the United Kingdom in dark ink "George R", with mild foxing and intersecting letter folds with tears (old cello tape repair and residue towards bottom of verso, forming an open frame for George III`s signature - the first letter `G` of the signature traversed by a fold & the bottom touched cello tape residue) - in fine to good condition.

In parts:
"Lord Aylesbury is I trust too much convinced of my regard for him as well as my humanity to attribute my silence on the severe blow he has sustained to any cause but a wish of letting his own good leave calm his sorrows befor I expressed any sentiments on so distressing an occasion..."

Accompanied by a contemporary manuscript copy of a letter from George III, dated `Queens House, December 11, 1779`, to an unidentified correspondent [Lord Aylesbury?], 1 1/2 pages, George III characterizes this letter as "this Embryo of a Negotiation ...[of] the earnest desire I have to unite my subjects in the present moment of danger, and to form a strong government out of the most able an respectable of all parties ..."
