Vintage postcard photograph with an autograph note signed, shows Franz Lehár in a chest-up portrait, 3,5 x 5,5 inch (with postage stamp and postmark), Berlin, 24.01.1926, written and signed in dark ink "24/1 926 - [...] die herzlichsten Grüsse aus Berlin [...] Lehár" - additionally addressed verso, with small areas of silvering, and scattered mild signs of age wear - in fine condition.

Lehár's father was a bandmaster in the Austrian-Hungarian army, and he began studying the violin and composition at a young age. He spent much of his early career as a military bandmaster, but eventually turned to composing operettas.
His most famous work is "The Merry Widow," which premiered in Vienna in 1905 and quickly became a worldwide sensation. The operetta is still performed frequently today and has been translated into numerous languages.
Lehár went on to compose over 30 operettas, many of which were also very successful. His music is known for its catchy melodies and romantic themes.
Despite his success, Lehár's personal life was marked by tragedy. His wife, whom he adored, died young, leaving him devastated. He never remarried and reportedly never got over her death.
