描述
Document signed, one page - with an official ink stamp of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Cuba, 8 x 6,25 inch, [Cuba], 14.04.1961, in Spanish, text ink stamp (to the heading) - being the acknowledgement of the document received*, signed in dark ink with his usual diminutive "che", mounted for fine display with a vintage photograph of Ernesto Che Guevara giving a decoration (altogether 12 x 14,5 inch), with mild foxing, a small hole to the lower left corner (not affecting the text), and mild signs of age wear - in nearly fine condition.
* Stating after the date (translated):
"on this day, I notified the present document to the undersigning, having read it in full and giving him a copy signed by me, I attest so ..."
Guevara was at the very top of Castro's government when this document was signed, serving as minister of industries and president of the Cuban National Bank. Despite his status, the activist in him disliked his official governmental duties, leading him to dismissively and diminutively sign documents such as this solely as 'Che.' For Guevara, it was his way of symbolically showing his distaste for class distinctions, even when it mean recognizing the working class.
