Daniel Day-Lewis is a British actor who is widely regarded as one of the greatest actors of all time. Born on April 29th 1957 in London, England, he is the son of the poet Cecil Day-Lewis and actress Jill Balcon. He has three siblings, Tamasin Day-Lewis, Patrick Day-Lewis, and Tessa Day-Lewis.

Day-Lewis began his acting career in the late 1970s with minor roles in British television and theater. He then made his big screen debut in the 1981 film Sunday, Bloody Sunday. He went on to appear in several other films, including My Beautiful Laundrette (1985) and A Room with a View (1986).

Day-Lewis rose to international fame in the late 1980s with his performance in the film My Left Foot, for which he won his first Academy Award for Best Actor. He also won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his role in The Last of the Mohicans (1992). He has since won two more Academy Awards for Best Actor, one for his role in There Will Be Blood (2007) and another for his role in Lincoln (2012).

Day-Lewis is also known for his dedication to his craft. He has taken long breaks from acting and is known for immersing himself in his roles, often learning the skills needed for the part. He has even taken up residence in the homes of characters he has played, such as the London apartment he stayed in while playing the role of Bill the Butcher in Gangs of New York (2002).
