Autograph letter signed, two pages - both sides, 8,75 x 11 inch, personal stationery, Darmstadt, 5.01.1931, in French, to Germanist Henri Lichtenberger (1864-1941) - concerning promotion for his lectures, written and signed in blue ink "Hermann de Keyserling", with intersecting mailing folds, small tears to the lower left edge, and foxing - in fine condition.

"... Voici le prospectus. Il perd tout intérêt spirituel, j’ai un intérêt très terre-à-terre pour désirer que la salle soit remplie : c’est moi qui paye tous les f rais, qui sont d’à peu près 40.000 francs … Aussi me faut - il arriver à faire part de ces conférences … au plus grand public possible. J ’espère que mes amis m ’aideront en parlant de cet événement autant que possible - dans une ville essentiellement orale, comme Paris , c ’ est là l’ essentiel. Mais ne pourrait-on pas attirer spécialement la jeunesse étudiante, universitaire et autre ? Serait - il possible en France - comme c’est possible en Allemagne - de clouer des prospectus et des affiches aux `tableaux noirs` des collèges, lycées, etc . ? … Les places sont tellement bon marché que vraiment chacun pourra venir (comme les frais sont très élevés, impossible de donner des invitations gratuites) … je ferai usage du haut - parleur, on entendra parfaitement par tout. - Je vous serais infiniment obligé si vous vouliez bien causer de ce que je vous demande à vos amis universitaires qui ont de la bonne volonté à mon égard. … je serais très heureux si des notes éditoriales dans les jou rnaux et surtout les grandes r evues (il en est temps encore pour la plupart) veulent bien annoncer mes conférences avec grand détail. Mais je ne connais personne, personnellement, à qui je pourrais le demander. Pour le reste, j’ai toute confiance dans une bonne fin. J’ai réussi partout dans le même genre. Pourquoi ne réussirais - je pas à Paris..."

I would be very happy if editorial notes in the journals and especially the big ones (it is still time for most of them) want to announce my lectures with great detail.
