Clinton was born in Ocala, Florida in 1943, the son of a U.S. Army sergeant. He was raised in a strict, yet loving home, and his parents instilled in him a strong sense of duty and service. After graduating from high school, he was accepted into the United States Military Academy at West Point. While attending West Point, he excelled in academics and was also active in the cadet corps, eventually becoming the Cadet Brigade Commander. Upon his graduation in 1965, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Clinton served in Vietnam for two tours of duty, during which he earned the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. After returning from Vietnam, he continued his service in a variety of assignments, including as a helicopter pilot and instructor at the Army Aviation School. In 1982, Clinton was selected to serve as the Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, a position he held until 1985. Upon his retirement from the Army, he was awarded the Legion of Merit for his distinguished service.

After his retirement from the Army, Clinton began a new career as an author and public speaker. His first book, Leadership in the New Millenium, focused on the importance of leadership in the military and gained acclaim from peers and readers alike. His second book, Leadership in the 21st Century, was released to similar success. In addition to his work as an author, Clinton also travels the country as a motivational speaker, giving lectures and seminars on leadership and its importance in the modern world.
