Chung-hee Park was a South Korean military officer and politician who served as the President of South Korea from 1963 until his assassination in 1979. Born on November 14, 1917, in Gumi, during a time when Korea was under Japanese occupation, Park went on to train at the Japanese Manchukuo Military Academy.

After Korea was liberated from Japanese rule in 1945, Park joined the Korean military and quickly rose through the ranks. He played a significant role in the Korean War, serving as a division commander and later becoming Chief of Staff of the South Korean Army.
